C. Nicolette Walker

Director of Supply Chain Management and Hospital Operations
Harris Health System

Before Category 4 Hurricane Harvey hit last August, Nicolette shipped in supplies days in advance, halting the operations 2 days before the storm hit so that suppliers had time to prepare for the storm.

All hospitals within a 50 mile radius were evacuated due to food and supply shortages. Thanks to Nicolette's pre-planning, the Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital could continue operating. They received 546 EC visits, fed 180+ evacuees, provided 14,000+ meals, managed 250+ building leaks, delivered 24 babies, performed 123 dialysis procedures, rescued 7 dogs and 1 cat, performed 17 surgeries (including their first brain surgery) and transferred 12+ patients via Coast Guard Helicopter without the aid of a helipad.

Nicolette's commitment to excellence, proactive pre-planning and dedication to her team ensured the community was kept safe during the hurricane.
